Captain America Cake

I have had so much much fun making super hero cakes!  This one was actually gluten-free and I thought it tasted pretty yummy. It was chocolate, filled with buttercream icing and covered in all fondant. I think I liked it so much because it had more of a dark chocolate taste to it.

Green and Yellow Monogram cookies

Here is another order of cookies I had last weekend. They were Lemon Sugar cookies and were for two sisters who are getting married within two weeks of each other!!

More Mickey!!

Last weekend was the weekend for parties! Here is the second Mickey Mouse cake I made. I have actually make 2 other cakes just like this , but on a much bigger scale. This one only needed to feed about 25 people so I shrunk it and it turned out pretty cute. Here is the bigger version

And....here is what my kitchen island looked like with all of my Mickey Mouse orders!

Mickey Mouse First Birthday Cake and Smash Cake

So, this past weekend, I had three birthday cakes, a smash cake, and an order of 36 monogram cookies!! I don't know how I got it all completed on time, but somehow it all worked out. I have been so blessed by all of the recent orders and have had a ton of fun making them (despite being a little stressed at times!) Here is the first Mickey Mouse cake I made. I actually had two seperate orders for Mickey Mouse cakes. They were both for first birthdays and this one I did a matching smash cake for the little birthday boy. It was covered in just buttercream with fondant details. I love how it turned out!! I also met the birthday boy's mom in Burlington and it made the trip there safely. I am so proud of how smooth the buttercream turned out.

Baby Shower Cake and Cupcakes

One of the cake orders I had this weekend was for my sweet friend Tracy who helped to throw a baby shower for her best friend. Tracy and I used to work together and I miss all of our fun times in carpool and our many lunch dates!
The cake and cupcakes were all lemon and covered with buttercream and fondant decortions. Tracym sent me a pic of the super cute invitation and I came up with this design to go along with the theme. I love how the little clothesline turned out! I used scrapbook paper to make the cupcake sleeves and also to cover straws that were used to hold up the clothesline.

Farewell Cake

This cake was so much fun to make! It was made for a going away party....for a blond haired, blue eyed frisbee lovin' girl who is moving to Colorado. I have never met Stacey, but she has some great friends! When I dropped off the cake they were making so many fun decorations for the party. I hope they had a great time.

I love making cakes like this cause they are always one of a kind.....and I get to be pretty creative. Emily, Stacey's friend who ordered the cake, asked me to paint the state flags on each corresponding state and connect them with a frisbee. I painted the flags with food coloring and the girl was made out of fondant. One half of the cake was butter golden with raspberry filling and the other was triple chocolate....yummmmyyy.

I was playing around with Picassa and thought I would also share my artistic shot of her feet ;)

Elephant Smash Cake and Cupcakes

A few weeks ago I made some elephant cupcakes for a baby shower and I have gotten so many compliments on them! I was super excited to get another order for them, but this time it was for a first birthday party and I made a smash cake to match the cupcakes. I changed up the design on the elephants with the oh so popular chevron print :) I love how they turned out! The cake and cupcakes were all chocolate with buttercream icing and fondant decorations. In my opinion, chocolate is the best for smash cakes cause your little one gets extra messy!

Groom and Bride Cake Topper

I have been wanting to blog about these guys for a while now! When I wrote the post last week about cake toppers, I already had these completed but they were being shipped to their owner. I didn't want to write about them before she got to see 'em.

The bride found my blog and asked me to make this cake topper to suprise her soon-to-be husband on their wedding day. She sent me these pics of her dress and his tux....

awwww beauuuuutifulllllll

Very classy :)

When she sent me the pic of her dress I wanted to go back 4 years ago and do my wedding all over (but this time wearing THAT dress haha). I really did love my dress, don't get me wrong, but that one is aboslutely gorgeous too.

On to the toppers....my fave so far!

I heard from the bride that they made it to their destination safe. Hope they enjoy their wedding day!

Lost Keys

So, this is a little more of a personal post, but it also includes a sweet treat at the end. Today, I was reminded of how praying for "little things" can be answered with a big message. First of all, let me admit, I often struggle with thinking I should only pray for "important" things or "big" things. For example, I felt silly praying for Landon to sleep through the night when he was a newborn because I should be thankful for a baby, etc. This isn't how God wants us to treat him with prayer - picking and choosing what is important enough to pray for. He says in Philippians 4:6-7:

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

He doesn't say "only pray for big things like war, etc", but He says "but in everything ...let your requests be known to God."

Sooooo on to the story that led me to meditate on this verse. Yesterday, I went for a run with Daisy and Landon using my $5 jogging stroller I got off of Craigslist. I didn't realize it had a small hole in the attached bag...looking at it now it is so small I don't see how much keys could have fallen through it, but they apparently did.

I spent about an hour searching high and low for my keys, but still no sign of them. I figured I must have locked them in my car, so when Dave got home he had a good friend come over to help him break in....that didn't work.

The following day I called our insurance to use the $100 credit for roadside assistance. Landon and I watched the guy open my lock (which was quite fun and interesting) and he must have though I was the craziest lady when I searched my empty, no keys present, car.

Well, it was time to search "da hood" for my keys. Wouldn't you know that I had gone down almost all the side roads to make my run long so the search wasn't an easy one. My week has been a stressful one, with personal junk going on and I also have a lot of cake orders (which I am sooo thankful for). All of that to say, I didn't have time for this. I started giving it over to the Lord and asked him to change my heart, and it it was His will, for me to find my keys. If it wasn't His will, I asked for patience and joy as we changed the locks in our house and got a new car key made. As I was surrendering it all, I looked up to see this sign:

Yay!!

So, the short story is, I got over my pride about praying for something I would consider "little" and God showed me how I need to bring EVERYTHING, by prayer and petition, to Him.

I wanted to thank our neighbors, so here are some yummy red velvet with cream cheese icing cupcakes I made for them

Hope they enjoyed them! I am so thankful for their kindess and all the trouble they went to to try to find me.
