Wedding Cake Topper

I am lovin' making these cake toppers! They are so sweet and I  so wish I had the idea/time to make one for our wedding. Maybe I can try to make a 1st birthday cake topper for Landon. I love that these toppers are keepers. That is one thing that is difficult for me when making cakes - I know that after all the time spent making them they will soon get eaten up! Anyways, this is another polymer clay cake topper and I hope they bride and groom love it!

50th Anniversary Cake #2

I recently made another 50th anniversary cake. These are fun because they are almost like mini wedding cakes. I also made the topper out of gumpaste and painted the gold on by using clear vanilla mixed with gold dust.

Happy Birthday Sport's Cake

Boy oh boy, it is CRAZY to think that this summer is almost over. I have been decorating and baking so much lately that I haven't had a lot of time to blog. Here is one cake that I did a few months ago. It was for twins who turned 4. I made their 2nd birthday cake as well so I felt so honored to do the 4th! I hope they had a ton of fun at their sport's themed party!

Oh yeah, I made the topper out of gumpaste painted it with black food coloring. Let me tell you, that soccer pattern is difficult to re-create!

Bethany and Kevin's wedding cake

A few weeks ago I had the honor of making AND cutting Bethany and Kevin's wedding cake. Dave, Landon and I had so much fun at their wedding and have really enjoyed getting to know them even better recently! This was actually my first time cutting one of my cakes. I hired Dave to help me and paid him the weekend rate ;) The flavors: white almond (of course!), red velvet and triple chocolate (my fave). I piped the black design on with royal icing. Congrats Bethany and Kevin! I hope we have many more fun game nights in the near future.

Featured on Aphrodite's Wedding Blog!

So I am super excited to share a wedding blog that I recently found two of my cakes in! I feel a little famous, haha. I am also super excited because this wedding was absolutely beautiful and I was soooo sad that I forgot my camera when I delivered the cake. Here is the post about Abigail + Brooke's special day. Scroll down a bit and you will see the "cake" section. So fun!!

3-D Police Officer Cake

I made this cake for a retirement party. I made a cake very similar to this one a few years back. Everything is cake, except for the gun and cuffs (those are made from fondant and gumpaste).

50th Anniversary Cake

Yay! I finally have a few minutes to blog (if Landon doesn't wake up from his nap). In May, I resigned from teaching Art and now I am making cakes and staying home with Landon. I am amazed about how God has really blessed me with just the right amount of cake business to make staying home with Landon possible. Anywho, I am definitely a busy stay-at-home mom and find it almost more difficult to find time to blog now! Here is a cake I did about a month ago for some sweet ladies who asked me to make a cake for their inlaws 50th wedding anniversary. They had the location site for the party decorated beautiful and I could tell they put so much work into making the party special.

Mickey Mouse Birthday Cake

I haven't mentioned this yet, but I am super excited to announce that I will be doing more cakes now! This was my last year teaching Art full time. I will miss all of my sweet students - from their notes to their excitment about getting creative. Although I will miss teaching Art, I am ready for this new chapter in my life being a SAHM and hanging out with mu lil' guy everyday, all day :)

Here are some pics of the 2nd cake I made this weekend. I actually made this little boy's birthday cake last year as well. This cake was special to me because I LOVED Mickey Mouse when I was a little girl. I would spend hours upon hours in my room drawing Mickey.

Frank from Cars

I'm so excited about this post! This was a fun cake decorating weekend for me. I had two "Disney" orders. The first one was a 3D cake from Cars for a little boy's 4th birthday. I went to Meredith with his mom and was so honored she asked me to make the cake! I honestly didn't remember who Frank was at first so I had to do some reasearch and watched the tractor tippin' scene on youtube. I can't wait until Landon starts to like these movies, they are so cute. Here is Frank:

Everything is edible...the cake is white almond and it is covered with buttercream and fondant.

Dinosaur 1st Birthday Cake

I'm lovin' this Dinosaur themed 1st birthday! I made this cake this past weekend for a little boy's first birthday. I loved the invite his mom sent me to design the cake from and the color theme. She was actually one of my first cake customers a few years back! I made her little girl's first birthday cake as well.

I cut the dinosaur shapes (inspired by the invite) out of fondant and "glued" them with clear vanilla around the white almond flavored cake (yum yum). I like to use clear vanilla for my "gluing" because it doesn't leave blotches when it dries.

After delivering the cake, my boys and I spent some time shopping at Southpoint. Doesn't Landon look so cool and grown up with his sunglasses? Dave looks pretty studly himself ;)
