Wedding Cake

This past weekend I had quite a few cakes (3) to make, but I was able to organize my week and get them all completed just in time. Here is the wedding cake which turned out beautiful. I was so nervous about it because on the way to deliver, it slipped on the stand and I thought I was doomed (felt like I was on one of the cake shows). Once it was set up and all the flowers were place on it everything was just fine. The location was a beautiful house in downtown Raleigh and I LOVED how the cake setup was under a beautiful gazebo outside. The twinkle lights, even in the daylight, added a nice touch :) The cake was white almond with buttercream icing. I also tried a new technique by adding the lines (with an icing comb) around each tier. I like the texture it provided. I am now getting a little more used to buttercream cakes, although I prefer working with fondant.

Gender Reveal Cake

I love Gender Reveal cakes and I wish we would have had a party when we revealed that Landon was a boy. I made this cake for my friends, Jasmine and Aaron. They are going to have a little boy as well! Congrats to both of you. The cake was a butter cake (dyed blue) with buttercream and fondant details. I LOVE the button idea (they were made out of fondant and pressed into a little button mold I found at Michaels). I made the monogram and little elephant out of gumpaste.

Dave's 31st Birthday

Well hello there and Happy Fall! This is one of my favorite times of the year and each Fall month is special because each Eshleman has a b-day. Dave's is in Sept, mine October and now Landon's is in November. We will be pretty busy leading up to Christmas! Birthday's are my "thing". I like to make them so special for people I love and Dave's was this past Monday. He turned the big 3-1. We had a fun time celebrating with some close friends this past weekend. Here is a pic from Dave's bday party and a pic of the Syracuse cake I made him.

On Friday, I made his favorite meal - creamy crock pot chicken. Saturday we went out to the Olive Garden with some friends and came back home for a little bday partayyy. Part of his gift was finishing up the cornhole set we have been working on ALLL summer. Dave built them and I painted the mascot designs and made the bags. Here they are...

Dave's two fave teams are Syracuse and State....if you can't already tell. I know these aren't "cakes" but we are so excited to have them finished I thought I would share! On Sunday we played a little cornhole and Landon and I snuck out early that morning to buy a dozen Dunkin' Doughnuts to make the ultimate Bday tradition - a Doughnut Cake! This is the 4th one he has had so far. Landon got so excited about the candles and started to cry when Dave blew them all out haha.

On Monday, Landon and I surpised Dave at work with some Bojangle's and we made one of his favorite meals for dinner - a chicken casserole that his mom made for him growing up. It was fun to have my little guy to be sneaky with :) Happy 31st Birthday Dave!!

Adam and Sus' Wedding

I am SOOO excited to finally blog about this cake. One of my good friends, from growing up, got married a few weeks ago. She is my best friend's older sister and I always thought that she was sooo pretty and cool when I was little (she still is!). I am so happy for her and Adam and cannot wait to see how God uses their marriage. Dave, Landon and I had so much fun at the wedding even though getting there was a little stressful! Transporting a cake 2 hours away with a little one in the back seat can keep you on your toes! To be completely honest with you, this was one of those cakes that I was scared to death about delivering. Buttercream cakes are a little more fragile and in the heat they often melt. The cake suprised me and turned out to be one of my fave wedding cakes so far! The ones I worry about seem to always be my favorites :) Anways - here it is.....

Alrighty, are you curious about the AMAZING cake stand yet?? My friend, Jill, made the stand and decorated the entire reception. Let me tell you, she is majorly talented and everything looked like it should be in a wedding magazine. I asked Sus' photographer (also super talented) to share some of the pics she took from the reception and here they are..

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous....what an absolutely beautiful day!!
